LUMÉ grew from years of living, hosting, and traveling between different cultures. Everything we share begins with a simple question, “would you recommend this place to a friend?”
Valentina Orantes is a Mexican entrepreneur, traveler, and hospitality enthusiast whose life has been shaped by a deep curiosity about the world and the people, cultures, and places that make it extraordinary.
Her international journey began as a young woman in Switzerland and has since taken her across Europe, Asia, Latin America, and North America. She has built a life between Mexico, the United States, and Spain, including seven years in Granada, where she raised her family and developed an even deeper appreciation for the way travel can connect us to culture, food, history, nature, and community.
Her professional background spans microfinance, banking, lending, entrepreneurship, real estate, and community development. In Portland, Oregon, she was a founding member of Portland Mercado, an initiative supporting Latino entrepreneurs through food, culture, and enterprise. In Granada, she founded La Valentona Mezcalería, bringing a contemporary expression of Mexican culture and mezcal to Spain.
Throughout these different chapters, one thread has remained constant: a love of discovering places with character and sharing them with others.
That philosophy inspired Lumé — The Global Collection.
Lumé is a curated travel and hospitality concept created for travelers who want more than simply somewhere to stay. It brings together distinctive properties, destinations, and experiences selected for their sense of place, beauty, authenticity, and connection to local culture.
Rather than trying to offer everything everywhere, Lumé is intentionally personal and selective. Each collection reflects places Valentina knows, loves, or has a meaningful connection to — beginning with Mexico, Spain, and Oregon.
For Valentina, traveling well isn’t necessarily about traveling farther or choosing the most luxurious option. It is about discovering the right places, experiencing a destination with curiosity, and returning home with a story worth remembering.
